Strange Lights in Night Sky to Kickoff Fall

This morning around 5 a.m. Mountain time I was out walking my dog when I noticed a series of lights moving across the sky. The lights were spaced equidistant and following in a line moving in a northerly direction. A quick Google search informed me these weren't alien spacecraft and may not be lights at all.

It's not a spaceship, it's a train

Despite my eagerness to finally achieve the title of UFO Spotter, a quick Google search informed me it was likely a "satellite train" which apparently are a common occurrence in today's technological age.

The source of the satellites I spotted was likely Starlink satellites from Spacex. The satellites are deployed together and remain in a line formation for several days or weeks before they disperse.

Further research found that a batch of 28 Starlink V2 Mini satellites were launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida on Sunday, August 31, 2025. If you'd like to know when the best time for you to see Starlink satellites in your area checkout https://findstarlink.com.

Not lights at all

Interestingly enough the satellites do not have their own lights but are visible when they catch and reflect the sun's light. This is why these satellites are easiest to see in the hour or two before sunrise or after sunset.
